Mathematics
For a number of years, children in Rush Green Primary School have performed extremely well in their end of key stage assessments in maths. Since the National Curriculum was reviewed in 2014, the staff across our whole school have been involved in developing a progressive calculation strategy, from the Nursery setting through to Year 6. The aim of this area of our website is to show visitors how we teach the various methods of calculation. Please take a look - watch our videos, look at the work the children are producing and read their explanations. We hope that it helps make things a little clearer for you and your children!
Calculation Policy
End of Year Expectations
The following document outlines the methods of calculation we teach in each year in Rush Green Primary.
Progression in calculation strategies and end of year expectations
It is important to realise that all children learn at different rates; some children may be introduced to methods of calculation that would normally be taught in the following years. We may also delay introducing a particular method of calculation to the children if the key skills haven't been mastered yet.
The methods of calculation are explained in further detail throughout the maths section of this website.
