Curriculum and Reading
At Rush Green Primary School we use the Letters and Sounds programme, supplemented by Jolly Phonics as our preferred way of delivering high quality teaching of synthetic phonics.
A great emphasis is placed on the teaching of phonics. During the Foundation stage and Key Stage 1 phonics will be taught using a rigorous and systematic approach following the above mentioned programme.
In Key Stage 2, children’s phonic knowledge continues to be developed following the ‘Support for Spelling’ and National Curriculum SPAG (Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar) programme.
