At Rush Green Primary School we believe that art is a vital part of children\u2019s education and has a valuable role in the wider curriculum. Our art scheme has been developed by the staff in the school who have drawn on their knowledge of the pupils\u2019 interests and cultural backgrounds to ensure what us being taught and learned is of interest to each child. The \u2018language\u2019 of art is important and children are exposed to a wide range of terminology which will help them critically evaluate different artists, movements and techniques (eg, (line, tone, texture, colour, pattern, shape, 3D form) used by the artists studied. We want to ensure that children understand the context of the artwork, as well as the artists that they are learning about. <\/p>

The scheme is heavily weighted towards developing pupils\u2019 skills; every lesson gives children the opportunity to practise, develop and refine their painting, drawing and 3D techniques. We believe that to truly appreciate Art pupils need to \u2018see\u2019, \u2018do\u2019 and \u2018evaluate\u2019 their own work, that of their peers and the artists and movements studied. The skills and knowledge that children will develop throughout each unit are mapped across the year groups throughout the school to ensure they are progressive – building on what was taught in previous year groups.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
